ESTEPE had the honour of hosting the Mercedes-Benz launch event for the trailing axle developed for the eActros 600. Various hauliers and interested parties were invited to view the eActros fitted with an ESTEPE trailing axle. This gave them the opportunity to find out more about the benefits this axle offers. This axle increases the tractor unit’s gross load capacity from 20.5 tonnes to 25 tonnes. This is sufficient to compensate for the extra weight of the batteries and thus enable the transport with standard loads over the fifth wheel unit.
The axle is characterised by a narrow track width and a short distance to the driven axle. This results in a small tail radius, meaning the axle will not obstruct with the trailer. Furthermore, there is no need to steer the axle, which in turn benefits both the added weight and maintenance.
The guests were given detailed information about the trailing axle as well as the eActros 600 itself, through presentations and the vehicles on display. A guided tour of ESTEPE completed the event.
