GSR2 : ESTEPE Solutions & Certificates

As is widely known, the EU General Safety Regulation GSR2 (General Safety Regulation) will come into force in July 2024, making advanced safety features (ADAS: Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) mandatory for new vehicles sold/registered on the European market.

As a 2nd phase truck manufacturer, ESTEPE must also comply with all the regulations from the GSR2 Directive since this summer. The introduction of this has a huge impact on the product range, the business processes and the homologation at ESTEPE.

ESTEPE’s business operations are based on our ISO9001:2015 quality management system and 2018/858/EC type approval system. We are proud to say that ESTEPE is the first 2nd stage truck manufacturer in Europe to have our cybersecurity measures (ECE R155 – CSMS) and software updates (ECE R156 – SUMS) formally certified as part of our European Type Approvals (WVTA – CoC).

Of the 6 safety features that are mandatory for new vehicle registrations, tire pressure monitoring (TPMS: Tire Pressure Monitoring System) obviously has a very big impact on the additional axles by ESTEPE and seat belt recognition (SBR: Seat Belt Recognition) has its influence on the ESTEPE components for additional seats in truck cabins. In cooperation with Knorr-Bendix, ESTEPE has developed a universal TPMS system that is ECE R141 certified. We have developed solutions for our seats and seat belts together with various other automotive suppliers, so that we can comply with ECE R16.

In addition to the development of these specific ESTEPE GSR2 systems, we need to move various sensors, radars and cameras to another position during our truck modifications. These must of course be fully functional and calibrated in their new position.

Once again an example of how the ESTEPE More Truck Team can adapt quickly and professionally to changing laws and regulations.
